India, Mumbai: Water to Earth campaign

The Dharavi project of the Acorn Foundation is launching a four-week Water to Earth campaign which will begin on 22nd March, World Water Day and end on 18th April, the International Earth Day. The Dharavi Project is an initiative of the Acorn Foundation, a charity trust registered in Mumbai. It seeks to change the living conditions of over 100,000 rag pickers who are segregating waste in and around the landfills of Mumbai. The 8,000 tons of waste generated daily by the city cannot be entirely picked up by the municipal corporation. The gap is filled by Mumbai's rag pickers who pick up the tons of garbage littering the streets of the slums. Event
