India, Tamil Nadu: World Water Day by Gramalaya, Tiruchirappalli

More than 25,000 women including AWASH representatives in rural Tamil Nadu will campaign for water and sanitation in their villages on the occasion of World Water Day 2010. "This event will be the largest congregation of women in the world who care for water and sanitation."
Gramalaya in association with Water.org, USA, Arghyam, Bangalore is organizing World Water Day 2010 at its NIWAS Training Centre, Kolakkudipatti in the rural part of Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu.
Women members from 2,600 Self-Help Groups from 450 villages of Thottiyam, Thathaiengarpet and Thuraiyur Block will be participating in the campaign. The participants from Women self-help groups and AWASH committees of 186 urban slums and rural areas will arrive on 22nd March 2010 to observe the World Water Day at the National Institute of Water and Sanitation campus.
