UPI launches Global Water Feature service

Updated - Friday 07 August 2009

United Press International has launched a Global Water Feature service and will be hosting the first in a series of topic-related forums entitled Our Water in Washington, DC on 23 September 2009. Joseph B. Treaster, Knight Center for International Media, University of Miami and John Sauer, Water Advocates have a weekly column for the new water feature service. “A Promising Solution To Clean Water Problem Fails To Win Support”, writes Mr Treaster about SODIS or Solar Water Disinfection in his latest column.

The three-hour forum in Washington on 23 September aims to bring together experts and decision makers, as well as traditional and citizen journalists to discuss some of the most pertinent issues facing our world today. It will include a speakers' panel consisting of US experts and organizations that are actively working to solve the pressing problems resulting from a lack of access to clean water around the world. UPI is also starting a blog, and is spreading awareness through Twitter by using the hashtag #ourwater
