Inés Restrepo of CINARA, Colombia, is one of more than 15 influential authors selected to write an essay for the Water Words collection for Expo Zaragoza 2008. Her essay “Water sustainability in rural communities: advances, experiences and lessons”, focuses on Latin America. Other essay writers are former Soviet Union president Mikhail Gorbachov, Indian environmentalist Vandana Shiva and Nobel Peace Prize winner Wangari Maathai. The vast majority of the authors will submit their essays during the course of Expo Zaragoza 2008 in the Water Tribune pavilion. They will provide the intellectual foundation for Expo Zaragoza 2008, a platform for more than 2,000 international experts in the field of water, over ten Themed Weeks divided into 25 major themes.
