Updated - Wednesday 23 January 2008
The Inter-American Development Bank approves a US$ 21 million (EUR 14.5 million) loan for a small community water program in Bolivia. The purpose of this program is to increase the coverage of sustainable potable water service and wastewater disposal in rural areas. This project will benefit 200,000 new customers living in approximately 500 rural communities.
An important component of this program is the involvement of the communities, whose input will be essential in the development, construction and operation phases. US$ 4 million (EUR 2.8 million) will be allocated to this.
