Updated - Friday 06 January 2006

Laba Hari Budhathoki of NEWAH in Nepal is the winner of a prize of EUR 1000 for the best case study on productive uses of water 2005, selected by the thematic group on Productive Uses of Water. “One development opportunity leads to another, Nepal” describes the broad benefits of an integrated water, sanitation and hygiene project, which also included promotion of kitchen gardening, in a case study from three villages in Nepal. The author has been invited to submit a full case study that will also be published on the site in the near future.

The PRODWAT thematic group was established in 2003 in order to contribute to the reduction of poverty and increased gender equity through the better recognition of productive uses of domestic water supplies, and the improved delivery of multiple use water services at the household level. The group is a collaborative partnership between international and national organisations
