Giving an overview of the relationship between gender, water, and poverty, this report explores women's central role in managing water supply and distribution, and examines how access to water and sanitation has implications for women's health, economic activities, and sustainable development as a whole. The report includes chapters on Gender differences in water use and management; Advocating for the connections; and Women set guidelines for implementation. A compilation of existing international commitments on gender, water, and poverty is central in the report and will serve as an important reference tool for governments, NGOs, and other institutions at upcoming meetings on water and sustainable development. The report also includes case studies and lists contacts and resources.
