Benin: Budgetary Support for Water and Sanitation
Updated - Monday 15 July 2002
The Water and Sanitation Program (WSP) recently took part in a joint World Bank/DANIDA mission to review progress in rural water and sanitation under the PERAC (Public Expenditure Reform Adjustment Credit) agreement with the government of Benin. PERAC is paving the way for budgetary support agreements which give more flexibility to client governments in the detailed administration of funds, provided the specific targets of the agreement are met. WSP staff focused particularly on the issues of Benin's commitments in Integrated Water Resources Management and Sanitation and Hygiene, both of which will require some changes in the way ministries work together.
